Living where the action is….the Downtown Phoenix area
Urban living choices abound in this city center, from newer lofts, condos to historic single family homes. You can walk to a ball game or a concert and take in dinner on the way! Living downtown would also mean that you would be close to one of the many organizations and companies located there, like Arizona Public Service Co (APS), ASU Downtown campus, City of Phoenix offices, Maricopa County offices, and a growing area on the east side that is home to the Phoenix Biomedical Campus (PBC), which is a 28-acre urban medical and bioscience campus that at build out will house more than six million square feet of biomedical-related research, academic and clinical facilities. The PBC is today home to the Translational Genomics Research Institute (T-Gen), the International Genomics Consortium (IGC), the Arizona Biomedical Collaborative I (ABC I), and the University of Arizona Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy.
In 2014, nearly 17,000 people lived in the immediate downtown area, increasing to nearly 93,000 living within three miles (2015 estimates). Downtown currently claims around 94,000 primary jobs in the area. In 2005 that number was more than 112,000; however most of the current job growth and recovery are listed in the upper income rage of $3,333 or more per month. In 2014, the greatest single area of job additions has come in finance and insurance, with an increase of 4.2 percent.
